A Provider Friendly Program for Oklahoma

MCNA Dental is a leading dental benefit management company committed to providing high-quality services to state agencies and managed care organizations for their Medicaid and CHIP members. We serve 5 million children and adults with the singular mission of improving their general health by ensuring access to quality dental care. For more information, visit our corporate website at

The Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) has recently selected MCNA to administer dental benefits to children and adults enrolled in the SoonerSelect Dental Program on a statewide basis, beginning on October 1, 2021.

To continue to provide dental care for the Medicaid enrollees currently in treatment with you, we encourage you to complete and submit an MCNA Credentialing Application by April 23, 2021.

We are building a network that will be administered by MCNA to serve Medicaid members in Oklahoma. As dentists, we recognize the dedication that dental providers such as you have to the oral health of Oklahoma’s population. We would like to extend an invitation for you to consider joining our network.

Frequently Asked Questions

OHCA believes that all Oklahoma Medicaid enrollees deserve high quality dental coverage and care. The transition to dental managed care will help provide a more effective care management system and efficient administration of services, benefiting both families and dental providers. Managed care provides increased cost savings for the state as well as increased accountability for Medicaid expenditures, with the managed care organizations (MCOs) and dental maintenance organizations (DMOs) taking on full risk. As demonstrated in other states across the nation, managed care also produces better patient outcomes through an increased focus on preventive care, reducing the need for more costly restorative and therapeutic services.

MCNA is committed to partnering with the Oklahoma dental community to provide high-quality dental care and services that improve outcomes for all Medicaid enrollees, making Oklahoma a national leader in oral health. Throughout our more than 25 years of experience, we have tailored our approach to emphasize prevention and compassionate care through our robust provider networks. To ensure our members receive the highest quality of care, all clinical decision-making is performed by licensed dentists and guided by the latest evidence-based standards. Dr. Leon Bragg, former Chief Dental Officer for OHCA, will lead MCNA’s Oklahoma program, providing expert oversight of all clinical operations and serving as the key point of contact with our Oklahoma participating providers.

MCNA’s approach supports preventive care and positive engagement beginning at a very young age for a lifetime of good oral health. We use innovative outreach and comprehensive case management to serve the most vulnerable populations. Our in-state Member Advocates serve the needs of all members, helping them understand and successfully access their dental benefits and other community-based resources. MCNA’s Tribal Government Liaison for Oklahoma serves as an advocate and resource for American Indian/Alaska Native members and as a knowledgeable point of contact for Indian Health Care Providers. Additionally, our overall quality improvement strategy focuses on increasing oral health literacy and encouraging members to seek regular preventive services.

The benefit package will stay the same. The processing prior authorizations and claims will be the responsibility of the DMOs, including MCNA. Dental providers must be enrolled with one or all of the dental plans to receive reimbursement.

MCNA is a provider-friendly organization committed to providing our Oklahoma participating providers with enhanced support and services. Whenever possible, we offer innovative, easy-to-use tools like our free online Provider Portal and instructional videos to make the submission of claims and other requests to MCNA as efficient as possible.

MCNA will follow the prior authorization requirements established under the Fee-for-Service program.

MCNA will mirror the coverage previously provided under OHCA. We will utilize the existing 30-point scale for orthodontia benefit review.

MCNA pays all claims that are determined to be payable during our twice-weekly provider payment cycles.

Our Oklahoma Provider Manual must go through a review and approval process with OHCA. Once it is approved, we will publish the final version on our website where you will be able to download a copy.

We are pleased to welcome Oklahoma dentists to participate in our network and partner in our mission to care! IMPORTANT: To ensure that there are no continuity of care issues for the Medicaid enrollees currently in treatment with you, please complete and submit your MCNA Credentialing Application by April 15, 2021. This will ensure that the contracting process is completed by July when Medicaid enrollees are notified by the state about the transition to the new dental managed care program so that your office will be featured in our Oklahoma Provider Directory.
